The Federation’s complete name is – “Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation” Public Association while abbreviated name is – “AGF”. In its activity, AGF follows the principles, objectives and goals of the Olympic Movement, operates in close cooperation with the National Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan. AGF collaborates with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan and sports organizations on issues of the population’s large-scale involvement in physical training and healthy-life style, personnel training, national teams’ formation and their participation in the international tournaments and training camps. AGF is a member of the European Gymnastics and the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG). Within the framework of its authority, AGF also develops and strengthens international relations with sports organizations of foreign countries. Currently, AGF comprises 9 gymnastics disciplines:
AGF has the following functions:
To develop and popularize gymnastics disciplines;
—To form National Teams in gymnastics disciplines and ensure their participation in the international tournaments within the framework of its authority;
—To upgrade the system of athletes’ high-performance;
—To take part in creation of conditions for social security of sportsmen, coaches and other specialists working in this field, as well as to take care of gymnastics veterans;
To develop norms in gymnastics disciplines on the basis of the Code of Points approved by the FIG;
—To fight against use of doping agents and/or its methods of use, as well as inequality and violence in sports;
—To develop requirements and norms for gymnastics disciplines as well as norms on sports judges’ certain categories for the purpose of their inclusion into the United Sports Classification of the Republic of Azerbaijan;
AGF facilitates the development of children's-youth sports, assists the activities of sports schools, Olympic Reserve Schools and Olympic Centers. AGF may be a member of the international sports organizations and may have rights and obligations not contradicting the legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
General Assembly is the AGF 's Superior Authority. The Executive Committee (EC) administers the Federation’s activity between sessions of the General Assembly. The EC Members consisting of natural persons are elected by the General Assembly for the 5-year-period. The EC also reports back to the General Assembly.

AGF President (EC Chairman) presides the EC meetings in accordance with the powers following from the Statutes and Legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
